Total of 10 Sessions
ROLFING is limited to 10 sessions
If I had to sum up the essence of Rolfing in one phrase,
it would be: “There is an end.”
Typical bodywork —such as massage or chiropractic care—
often don’t bring resolution in a single session.
As a result, clients may find themselves going back repeatedly,
sometimes developing a kind of dependency on the practitioner.
Rolfing, on the other hand,
offers a clearly defined structure: 10 sessions.

Each session is designed with the client’s independence in mind.
Within this framework, we work together to explore the question:
“How should I relate to my body?”
One of the central focuses is the relationship with gravity.

Why gravity?

Because even though we cannot see it,
it is always there—an ever-present force.
On May 4, 2018, I had the opportunity to offer a Rolfing session on a Japanese TV program
(“Unnan, Degawa, and Bakarhythm’s Super Holiday Reform Special”).
During the session, I introduced a new perspective to Degawa-san:

“What does a comfortable posture feel like?”

Unlike the concepts of “correct” or “incorrect” posture—which often come with singular answers—
a comfortable posture is unique to each individual.
This is because each person’s skeletal and structural makeup is different.

Moreover, it’s not something you can figure out by thinking.
It requires a felt sense, experienced through the body.
But because most people have long-established habits of using their bodies in certain ways,
it can be difficult to recognize what truly feels comfortable.
That’s why my role as a Rolfer is to explore that comfort—
together with the client—through the course of 10 sessions.

Because the body reorganizes itself in relationship with gravity,
the changes that occur tend to last well beyond the 10 sessions.
In this way, Rolfing has a coaching-like approach to posture.
Through the sessions, you begin to rediscover that
“the body already knows the answer.”
And from there, you gain the tools to answer a deeper question:
“What do I need to solve my body’s challenges on my own?”

This is the transformative potential built into the 10-session Rolfing series.
If you’re interested in experiencing this for yourself,
we offer trial sessions at ZERO.

with your body’s innate intelligence.
