How a scientist who analyzed “life” at the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry chose the path of Rolfing®—the art of touching the depths of the body.

【Mission】 From Analysis to Integration: Feeling with the Body, Not Just Thinking with the Mind
I earned my PhD in Medicine from the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo and spent approximately 11 years in the pharmaceutical industry, specializing in drug development and marketing. My days were spent chasing the latest scientific breakthroughs, seeking “correct” answers within logic and data.
Yet, no matter how much precise logic I built, a persistent sense of dissonance remained. It was the feeling that while my mind understood everything, my body wouldn’t follow—and that the more information I gathered, the less “certainty” I felt in my own life.
We do not live by the brain alone. Emotions and, most importantly, the physical body that supports them, are deeply involved in our life decisions and daily well-being. Realizing this truth was my major turning point. My work today is rooted in shifting the perspective from scientific analysis (parts) to seeing the human being as one integrated whole.
【The Journey】 Awakening the Intelligence of the Body
The origin of my exploration dates back to my late 20s during my doctoral studies. Under the intense stress of research life, I developed atopic dermatitis. In my search for a cure, I encountered various methods that went beyond traditional medicine to harmonize both mind and body.
Starting around 2008, I began a deep dive into the mind-body connection through perspectives such as coaching, psychology, yoga, and molecular nutrition. I completed training as a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner and the Co-Active Coaching (CTI) curriculum, learning how internal transformation influences physical behavior through both theory and practice.
This exploration turned into conviction during a 2014 world tour across 26 countries. Amidst the diverse views of the body I encountered globally, I discovered Rolfing®. It was a method of reorganizing the entire body into its original balance via the fascia, in harmony with gravity. It satisfied my intellectual curiosity as a scientist and my physical senses as a human being simultaneously and vividly.
【Present】 A Space to Reclaim Your Core and Savor Life
In 2015, I began my practice as a Certified Rolfer™. Currently based in Shibuya, Tokyo, I have provided sessions to over 300 clients. My approach goes beyond mere postural correction:
- Evidence-Based Reliability: I explain bodily responses logically from the perspectives of medicine and neuroscience, providing a clear foundation for our work together.
- Deep Understanding of Medical & Business Contexts: Leveraging my experience in the pharmaceutical industry, I support clients in navigating professional challenges and medical relationships.
- A Multidimensional Approach: By integrating Hatha Yoga, coaching, and movement techniques, I guide clients out of the “labyrinth of overthinking.”
When the body is aligned, space is created in the mind, and life’s choices begin to shift. The body is the essential vessel through which we connect with the world. Instead of rushing for answers, I believe in trusting the answers that emerge naturally through the process of aligning body, emotion, and thought.
Life is not a competition; it is an accumulation of irreplaceable experiences. With the eyes of science and the intuition of the body, I am here to walk with you on the journey to reclaim your true center.
